Mark Carmickle
We have received notice that Mark Carmickle has died. Mr. Carmickle initiated as a BT Plumber into LU 481 in 1956. He was a Business Manager in LU 481 from 1963 to 1971. He was a 61 year life member. He was 94 years old.
Mark Carmickle’s celebration of life will be February 17, 2018 at 11 AM at UA 290 Springfield (2861 Pierce Parkway Springfield, OR).
John Starke
We have received notice that John Starke has died. Mr. Starke initiated as a BT Pipefitter into LU 290 in 1985. He retired in 2010. He was 66 years old.
James Richardson
We have received notice that James Richardson has died. Mr. Richardson initiated as BT Pipefitter Refrigeration into LU 467 in 1969 and transferred into LU 235 in 1982. He retired in 2003. He was 76 years old.

Bobbie Moore
We have received notice that Bobbie Moore died last month. Mr. Moore initiated as BT Plumber into LU 51 in 1948. He retired in 1993 and was a 69 year Life Member. He was 91 years old.
Michael Church
We have received notice that Michael Church died last month. Mr. Church initiated as a BT Pipefitter into LU 195 in 1977 and transferred into LU 290 in 1997. He retired in 2014. He was 64 years old.
Mike Hamm

We have received notice that Douglas Francescon has died. Mr. Francescon initiated as an Apprentice Steamfitter into LU 235 in 1972. He served on the Trust of LU 51 and 235, was a delegate to the Private Industry Council and served as President of LU 235. He retired in 2008. He was 71 years old.

We have received notice that James Helmer has died. Mr. Helmer initiated as a Steamfitter Apprentice in to LU 290 in 1980 and retired in 2008. He was 65 years old.
Paul Henderson
We have received notice that Paul Henderson has died. Mr. Henderson initiated as a Mechanical Laborer in 2001 and then was accepted into the Steamfitter Apprenticeship in 2002. He graduated in 2007. He was 54 years old.
Fred King
We have received notice that Fred King has died. Mr. King initiated as a Plumber Apprentice into LU 481 in 1964. He retired in 2000 and was 53 year Life Member. He was 79 years old.

James “Catfish” Griffith

Don Lee
We have received notice that Don Lee has died. Mr. Lee originally initiated in as a Marine Fitter in Local 235 in 1975. He was 71 years old.
Herman Woodford
We have received notice that Herman Woodford has died. Mr. Woodford initiated as a BT Pipefitter into LU 51 in 1957. He retired in 1994 and was a 60 year Life Member. He was 85 years old.
Wilbur “Bill” Edens
We have received notice that Wilbur “Bill” Edens has died. Mr. Edens initiated as an Apprentice Steamfitter into LU 235 in 1951. In 1955 he won the Oregon Apprentice contest and went on to place 4th at the UA Nationals. He served for 10 years on the LU 235 Exam board, was Recording Secretary and Executive Board member for 12 years and served as dispatcher. He was a delegate to the National Convention and was an instructor for 24 years and then Training Coordinator of LU 235.
He retired in 1993 and was a 66 year Life Member. He was 94 years old.

Henry G Haberman
We have received notice that Henry G Haberman has died. Mr. Haberman initiated as an Apprentice Plumber into LU 471 in 1961 and he was twice voted as a delegate to the UA Convention. He then retired in 1999 and was a 55 year Life Member. He was 77 years old.
Timithy Richards
We have received notice that Timithy Richards died of cancer on Friday. Mr. Richards initiated as a Plumber into LU 290 in 1990 and worked out of the Medford area. He was 51 years old.
Larry Jurgensmeier
Larry J initiated as an Apprentice Steamfitter into LU 347 in 1969. He served as E-Board Chairman, Vice President and temporary Business Manager of LU 347. He was President of the Salem Building Trades Council for over 13 years as well as being a member of the Salem Education for Employment Enterprise Board.
He was the Business Agent and Training Director of the Salem Office from 1988 to 2003, when he retired. We will never forget his gravelly voice and gregarious sense of humor. He was 73 years old.

Robert Stochosky
We have received notice that Robert Stochosky has died. Mr. Stochosky initiated as an Apprentice Plumber into LU 51 in 1949. He retired in 1993 and was a 68 year Life Member. He was 89 years old.
Robert Stochosky was born in Sherwood, Oregon February 28. 1928 and spent his life in the Pacific Northwest. He was a proud member of local 290 for over 65 years. His earliest project of note was running the pipe from the bottom of the Columbia River Gorge up to the scenic Vista House. He worked on several big hospital projects in the Portland area and then went on to refrigeration for the fruit and fishing industry. His education was furthered when he joined the Portland State University pilot development program for construction management in the 1970’s. He married, Nancy Forrey in 1948 and started the family that he would work so hard for. He led innumerable trips to the beach, mountains, and desert for castle building, wave jumping, hiking, camping, skiing all the while teaching by example how to live life with vigor, integrity, dedication and love. He served on the Milwaukie City Counsel and Civil Service Commission from 1964-1985, on the Mount Hood ski Patrol for 17 years and on the archdioceses building commission from 1992-1998. He remained a proud member of the Plumbers Union until he died.
After living in Milwaukie for fifty years, he and Nancy moved to Sandy, Oregon. The plan was to build a dream retirement home. After 2 years of dream house living, the boredom was excruciating. They sold that dream and bought 30 acres in the Mount Hood foothills to start a Christmas tree farm and Kalmia nursery. 15 years later, they finally retired to John Day, Oregon. They moved back to Portland in 2014 to be closer to family.
Robert was a devoted husband, father and friend. He was dedicated in his faith. He served as an example to all that honesty in business is the foundation of success. He lived his faith in God, his love of the land and his devotion to family with a steadfast simplicity that was unwavering. He is preceded in death by his son, William. He is survived by Nancy, his best friend of 72 years, 6 children, 21 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. After a brief illness, his journey in this life ended peacefully, surrounded by those he loved. He is now Home.

We have received notice that Ronald Van Slyke died earlier this month. Mr. Van Slyke initiated as a Plumber Apprentice into LU 44 in 1973. He then changed to Steamfitter in 1990. He Transferred into LU 290 in 2000 and retired in 2014. He was 66 years old.
David Clifton
We have received notice that David Clifton has died. Mr. Clifton initiated as a Metal Trades Journeyman into LU 78 in 1991. He became a BT Plumber in 1999 and transferred to LU 290 in 2012. He was 53 years old.
Paul E Williams
We have received notice that Paul E Williams has died. Mr. Williams initiated as a BT Steamfitter into LU 533 in 1942 and transferred into LU 191 in 1970. He retired in 1982, later moving to Texas and was a 74 year Life Member. He was 96 years old.
Jim Stroup

The memorial service is at Woodland Park Church, 11375 NE Halsey Street, Portland, Oregon, on Saturday, February 11, at 2:00 pm.
Louis Foust
We have received notice that Louis Foust has died. Mr. Foust initiated as a BT Steamfitter into LU 235 in 1949 and he retired in 1993. He was a 67 year Life Member and Mr. Foust (with his wife Robbie, who passed away at the end of December) were instrumental in the creation and up-keep of the LU 290 Historical Archives. He was 87 years old.
